You can change the cells in a table you've inserted in a Publisher publication.

To change other table properties, see Change rows or columns in a table.

Lock or unlock the size of cells

  1. Select the cells you want to change.

  2. Click the Table Tools Layout tab, and do one of the following:

    • To lock the cell size, clear the Grow to Fit Text check box.

    • To unlock the cell size, select the Grow to Fit Text check box.

    Click or clear the Grow to Fit Text check box

Note: Diagonally divided cells will not grow to fit text.

Change the margins in a cell

  1. Select the cells you want to change.

  2. Right-click the table, and then click Format Table.

  3. In the Format Table dialog box, click the Cell Properties tab.

  4. Under Text Box Margins, enter the margins you want.

Merge cells

  1. Select two or more adjacent cells that you want to combine.

  2. Click Table Tools Layout > Merge Cells.

    If the cells contain text, the content of each cell appears in the merged cell.

Note: To split merged cells, select the cell, and then click Table Tools Layout > Split Cells.

Diagonally divide table cells

  1. Select the cells you want to divide.

  2. Click Table Tools Layout > Diagonals.

  3. Click either Divide down or Divide up.

Insert a tab in a cell

  1. Click inside the table cell where you want to insert the tab.

  2. Press CTRL+TAB.
