  1. Open OneDrive in File Explorer and find the file or folder to make online only.

  2. Right-click the file and select Free up space. If the option appears grayed out, select Always keep on this device to make it available offline, then choose Free up space.

  3. Look for the cloud symbol  Online-only icon next to the file name, indicating that the item is now only available online.
