Applies ToOutlook on the web New Outlook for Windows

Last Updated: October 18, 2024

ISSUE

Microsoft Editor is currently not available in new Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web for GCC (Government Community Cloud) tenants. Due to this limitation, users cannot use proofing features, like spellcheck, support for multiple languages, grammar check and various other features that Microsoft Editor provides to users.

STATUS: INVESTIGATING

Microsoft Editor is currently going thru a compliance certification process before it can be made available to GCC tenants. The Microsoft Editor and Outlook teams are working to address this issue. We will update this article when we have more information.

WORKAROUND

Users can use the spellcheck feature in their browsers when using Outlook on the web (right-click on misspelled words for corrections) but similar functionality is not available to users of new Outlook in the absence of Microsoft Editor.

MORE INFORMATION

When composing new messages, new Outlook users will notice red squiggly lines under misspelled words, but they will not be able to use Microsoft Editor to make corrections, rather they will have to make corrections manually.
