A red squiggly line under a word means it's likely misspelled.

To fix the error, right-click the word and select the correct spelling. Alternately, you can choose Add to Dictionary or Ignore All.

If you don't want Word to flag misspellings, select the File menu and select Options > Proofing.

Clear the Check spelling as you type box and select OK.
Important: By removing this option, Word no longer flags spelling errors in the document. To keep the option and fix errors or remove lines manually, right-click the underlined text and select the correct spelling, choose Ignore All, or choose Add to Dictionary.

Select the Word menu and select Preferences.

Select
 Spelling & Grammar and clear the Check spelling as you type box.

Spell checking and red squiggly lines are always on in Word for the web. You can, however, turn them on or off in the Word desktop app.

To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select Editing > Open in Desktop App.
