In OneNote, labels can be applied to sections to manage content according to organizational policies. However, there may be situations where you need to remove a label from a section.

Removing a Label

  1. Open OneNote and navigate to the section where you want to remove the label.

  2. Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to change the label in the section.

  3. Set the same label as the one currently applied to the section to remove it.

  4. You may be prompted to provide a justification for removing the label, as required by the tenant administrator through the compliance console.

    Tip: If mandatory labeling is enabled by the tenant administrator in the label publishing policy, users will be blocked from removing labels on sections.
