Use the Share Resources dialog box to set preferences for sharing resources with other projects. You can:

  • Turn resource sharing on or off.

  • Choose which project file resources are being shared from.

  • Specify which file takes priority if the resource information in the two files conflicts.

On the Tools menu, point to Resource Sharing, and then click Share Resources.

Resources for section

Use own resources     Specifies that you want the active project to use its own resources. This option is selected by default.

Use resources     Specifies that you want the active project to use resources from another project.

From     Specifies the name of the open project from which you want to share resources. This box is available only if the Use resources option is selected.

On conflict with calendar or resource information section

Pool takes precedence     Specifies that if there is conflicting information regarding a resource between the active (sharer) project and the resource pool project, the information in the resource pool project should be respected. For example, if the max units for a resource in the sharer project are 100 percent and the max units for the same resource in the pool are 75  percent, and you indicate that the pool takes precedence, then the value of 75 percent is retained as the max units for that resource. This option is selected by default.

Sharer takes precedence     Specifies that if there is conflicting information regarding a resource between the active (sharer) project and the resource pool project, the information in the active (sharer) project should be respected.
