Stream integration on Teams enables convenient features such as sharing and watching your Stream videos and Teams meeting recordings within the Teams app. 

The Stream app is available across multiple Teams touchpoints, including Stream app on Teams left rail, Stream on Teams message extension, and the Stream Tab on Chats/Channels. Each of these is described here.  

Stream app on the Teams left rail

Using this feature, you can easily access the videos in your watchlist. The Stream app will open within Teams so you can see your content without going out of context. 

  1. In the left rail of your Teams app, locate and select the three dots Select the More actions (...) icon for the page-level menu

  2. In the displayed set of apps, select Stream.

  3. Optionally pin the Stream app on the side panel for more convenient access in the future.

Stream on Teams message extension 

The Stream on Teams message extension enables you to add a video or meeting recording in a Teams chat/channel during the flow of interaction. There’s no need to exit the conversation. 

  1. Have ready the link to the Stream (Classic) video you want to share in the chat/channel.

  2. Paste the link into the message extension and enter in the chat.

  3. Respond to the revealed video card.

Stream tab on chat/channel

The Stream tab, located in a chat or channel, lets you share videos from Microsoft Stream (Classic) directly in the tab. Here’s how to add the Stream tab: 

  1. Select Add a tab next to your existing tabs in a channel.

  2. Select Stream.

  3. Add a name in the Tab name field.

  4. Add a link to a Microsoft Stream video or a Microsoft Stream channel.

Revamp plans - from Stream (Classic) to Stream (on SharePoint)

We're in the process of revamping the Stream experience. The renewed Stream App in Teams will let you access all of your meeting recordings and videos stored in Stream (on SharePoint). Updates are rolling out beginning in the first half of 2023. Watch for announcements about forthcoming changes. 

Go to the Stream website to:

  • Set up a Stream account.

  • Upload videos to share.

If the Stream tab has been set up in a channel in the desktop or web app, you can view Stream videos on your iOS and Android device.
