Supported accounts

Microsoft To Do is free when you use your Microsoft account, which means Microsoft To Do is available to all Microsoft 365 Family and Personal customers. Both free and Microsoft 365-subscribed Microsoft accounts rely on Exchange Online servers, so the technical requirements detailed below are met by default.

Common examples of personal Microsoft accounts are ones you use to sign in to Skype, Outlook.com, or Xbox. Manage your Microsoft account

You can also use a work or school account, but you'll need to make sure it's supported first. 

The following Microsoft 365 subscriptions include a To Do license, needed to use Microsoft To Do with a work or school account:  

  • Microsoft 365 Business Basic

  • Microsoft 365 Business Standard

  • Microsoft 365 Business Premium

  • Microsoft 365  F3

  • Office 365 F2 - F3

  • Office 365 E1 - E5

  • Microsoft 365 E3 - E5

  • Office 365 Education E3

  • Office 365 A1 - A5

  • Microsoft 365 A3 - A5

  • Exchange Online (Plan 1)

  • Exchange Online (Plan 2)

  • Exchange Online Essentials

  • Exchange Online Kiosk

  • Exchange Online POP

In addition to a valid subscription, one of the following Exchange Online licenses is needed for Microsoft To Do to be able to sync user data: 

  • Exchange Online (Plan 1)

  • Exchange Online (Plan 2)

  • Exchange Essentials

  • Exchange Online Kiosk

  • Exchange Online Plan 1

  • Exchange Online POP

  • Exchange Online (P1)

The following account types or subscriptions are not supported: 

  • Accounts hosted via on-premises installations of Exchange Server

  • Government accounts/subscriptions

    • Exception: Government Community Cloud Moderate accounts can access To Do on the web

  • Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise or Microsoft 365 Apps for business

  • Microsoft 365 Germany accounts/subscriptions operated by T-Mobile Systems

  • Microsoft 365 China accounts/subscriptions operated by 21Vianet
