In classic Outlook, select File > Options.

On the left side of the window, select the Mail tab.

Scroll down to the Tracking section, then select Read receipt confirming the recipient viewed the message to turn on read receipts. Or clear the check box to turn them off.Â

Select OK.

In a message you are composing in new Outlook, on the Options tab, select or clear Request read receipt.
