  1. In classic Outlook, start a new message or reply, and put the cursor in the body of the message.

  2. On the Message tab, select  Dictation microphone button  Dictate, or press Alt+` (reverse apostrophe, which shares a key with ~). If you don't see Dictate on the ribbon, select the ellipsis (...) at the right end of the ribbon, then choose Dictation microphone button  Dictate. 

  3. The red dot on the icon  Shows Dictation icon while recording indicates that Outlook is listening for your voice. Start talking, and text will appear in the message body.

  4. To turn off dictation, select Dictation microphone button  Dictate again.
