If your system is asking you for your BitLocker recovery key, the following information may help you locate your recovery key and understand why you're being asked to provide it. Important: Microsoft support is unable to provide, or recreate, a lost BitLocker recovery key.

Get started with Copilot. To get started, open the Copilot app from the Start menu or use the Copilot icon if present on your Windows taskbar. If your device keyboard includes a dedicated Copilot key, you can also use it to launch Copilot.

Possible causes. Make sure your PC, the external display, and the cable all support DisplayPort or MHL alternate modes. Make sure the device or dongle is connected directly to your PC. Make sure the device or dongle is connected to the USB-C port on your PC that supports the correct Alternate Mode.

If you don't want to record or transcribe confidential meetings in Teams, you can still engage with Copilot when it's set to "Only during the meeting" in your Meeting options. When you join a meeting, select Copilot to open it on the right of the meeting view.

Use Copilot in a meeting chat. When your meeting is transcribed, Copilot references information from the meeting transcript in its responses. Note: If your meeting wasn't transcribed, Copilot will reference information from the meeting chat conversation instead.

It isn't available on Windows Home edition. If you have BitLocker turned on for your device, it's important to be sure you have the Recovery Key backed up somewhere. If BitLocker thinks an unauthorized user is trying to access the drive it will lock the system and ask for the BitLocker recovery key.
