You can use data from a Excel worksheet as the basis for a PivotTable or PivotChart. The data should be in list format, with column labels in the first row, which Excel will use for Field Names.Each cell in subsequent rows should contain data appropriate to its column heading, and you shouldn't mix data types in the same column.

When you run Excel in safe mode, it bypasses functionality and settings such as alternative startup location, changed toolbars, startup folders used by Excel, Excel add-ins, and most COM add-ins. While add-ins can enhance your experience, they can occasionally interfere, or conflict with Excel. You can safe mode troubleshoot in one of two ways:

Notes: The formatting options that appear in the Formatting tab depend on the data you have selected. Important: Workbook links are considered potentially unsafe and must be enabled when you open a formula workbook.When you open a formula workbook, click Enable Content in the Message Bar to allow the workbook links to function. If you don't, Excel keeps the most recent values and disables refreshing the links with values from the data workbook.

Check the device. If the device doesn't appear to work at all (no lights appear on the device when it’s plugged in, or the cursor doesn't move or doesn't appear on the screen), connect the device to another PC and make sure the device works on that PC.
