When you run Excel in safe mode, it bypasses functionality and settings such as alternative startup location, changed toolbars, startup folders used by Excel, Excel add-ins, and most COM add-ins. While add-ins can enhance your experience, they can occasionally interfere, or conflict with Excel. You can safe mode troubleshoot in one of two ways:

You'll see the logo screen on your screen. Continue to hold the Volume Up button. Release the button when the UEFI screen appears. Replying or forwarding messages - You can have a different font on messages you're forwarding or replying to. This setting is mostly for the two check boxes that let you mark your comments with your name (or other text) or with a different color of text.

Disable all macros except digitally signed macros Macros are disabled, and security alerts appear if there are unsigned macros present.However, if the macro is digitally signed by a trusted publisher, the macro just runs. If the macro is signed by a publisher you haven't trusted yet, you are given the opportunity to enable the signed macro and trust the publisher.
