The Xbox app on PC relies on two Microsoft accounts: the Microsoft Store account, and the Xbox profile (your PC gaming account). The Microsoft Store account provides access to owned games, subscription benefits, and other Xbox app purchases made by that account.

When you’re away from your console or your Windows 10/11 device, you can still get ready to play your next Xbox console game. Use Xbox app on mobile or Xbox.com to remotely install games—so your games are ready when you are.

Note To use many of the Xbox features within Game Bar, including Xbox Social features, you must have the Xbox app for Windows installed. To use Xbox Social features, sign in to Game Bar with your Microsoft account. Press the Windows logo key + G to open Game Bar, choose Settings > Accounts, select Sign in, and then follow the steps.

Warning Resetting your console to its factory defaults erases all accounts, saved games, settings, and home Xbox associations. Anything not uploaded to the Xbox network will be lost. Your console syncs when it’s connected to the Xbox network, but if you've been offline for a while, connect to the network before taking these steps.
