Important: If you turn on two-step verification, you will always need two forms of identification.This means that if you forget your password, you need two contact methods. 2. Fill out the form using a recognized device and location. If possible, complete the form using a device you previously used to sign into your account and at a location where you commonly use that device and that we'll recognize, such as your home or office.

Enter your email, phone number, or Skype sign-in that you use for other services (Outlook, Excel, etc.), then select Next.

If you get an email about unusual activity on your Microsoft account, or if you’re worried that someone else might have used your account, go to the Recent activity page.You’ll see when your Microsoft account was signed in during the last 30 days, along with any device or app-specific info.

Microsoft is aware that some customers are running versions of Windows that no longer receive mainstream support. That means those customers will not have received any security updates to protect their systems from CVE-2019-0708, which is a critical remote code execution vulnerability.
