When you try to install a Microsoft game, you receive one of the following error messages immediately after you start the installation: Error message 1. Error -1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime. Error message 2. Error - 1628: failed to complete installation.

The Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter helps you automatically repair issues when you're blocked from installing or removing programs. It also fixes corrupted registry keys. First, you'll need to download the troubleshooter. Download troubleshooter. If you see the File Download box when you start downloading, select Run or Open.

Error message 1. The file d3dx9_25.dll was not found. Error message 2. The file d3dx9_27.dll was not found. Cause. This issue may occur if the Microsoft DirectX file that is mentioned in the error message is corrupted or is not copied correctly. Resolution. Download and then install the latest version of DirectX.
