Fixes an issue in which WIA image processing filter does not start. This issue occurs when you scan from Devices and Printers in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2.

You try to run a Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) 1.0 application, such as mspaint.exe, on the computer to scan a picture. You click From scanner and camera, and then click Adjust the quality of the scanned picture to adjust the brightness or the contrast of the scanned picture.

Microsoft recommends downloading and installing the latest printer driver for a printer. Installing the latest printer driver might resolve known issues with the printer, increase performance, or add additional capabilities.

Download the drivers for the desired device from the device manufacturer's site. Make sure to download the correct drivers that match the version and architecture of Windows.
