Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. When critical Windows system files are missing or corrupted, some Windows features may stop working correctly or Windows may stop responding altogether.

Use the Quick Assist app to get help with a computer problem from family or friends or help them out. Quick Assist uses a remote connection, so remember to only use it with people you trust, since they can see your computer screen or control your PC (if you allow it). Select Start > All apps > Microsoft Store.

There are different ways to remove apps and programs, so if you can't find the one you're looking for, you can try another location. Note that some apps and programs are built into Windows and can't be uninstalled. You can try to repair a program first, if it's just not running correctly.

Windows Remote Assistance lets someone you trust take over your PC and fix a problem from wherever they are. Tip: You can also use Quick Assist to give and receive remote assistance. Before you can use it, you'll need to enable access.

The Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter helps you automatically repair issues when you're blocked from installing or removing programs. It also fixes corrupted registry keys. First, you'll need to download the troubleshooter. Download troubleshooter. If you see the File Download box when you start downloading, select Run or Open.

In Windows, use Search on the taskbar to search for PC Health Check, then select it from the list of results. If a PC Health Check update is available, you can quickly install it for the latest version.

If you want a deeper scan, instead of selecting Quick scan in step 3, select Scan options and choose the type of scan you want. For the most complete scan, run Microsoft Defender Offline. For more about that see Help protect my PC with Microsoft Defender Offline. When the scan completes, Defender will tell you if it found anything.

Repair options from the Settings page. Select Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Select the More icon next to the app you want to fix. Select Advanced options (some apps don't have this option). In the page that opens, select Repair if it's available. If it isn't available or doesn't fix the problem, select Reset.
