Add East Asian fonts in Windows 10 for use with Office documents
Add a language and associated fonts. Click the Windows Start button, click Settings, and then click Time & language. Click Region & language, and then click Add a language. Click the language for the font you want to add. Any fonts associated with that language will be downloaded, and your text should display correctly.

Add phonetic guides to Japanese text. Select the text that you want to add phonetic guides to. On the Home tab, under Font, click Phonetic Guide . In the Ruby Text box, enter the phonetic guides that you want to apply to the selected text. Under Apply To, click the option that you want the phonetic guide to apply to.

Use furigana (phonetic guides) with Japanese text
First, make sure you change the editing language to Japanese. Then you can view the font style, font size, and alignment of furigana, a phonetic reading aid, in Excel Online for Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Hong-Kong languages and regions. You can even make minor changes to the text.

Microsoft Japanese IME - Microsoft Support
Microsoft Japanese IME was renewed as of Windows 10 October 2020 Update (Version 2004) and is also available with Windows 11. IME supports a compatibility setting in IME settings > General . If you encounter issues with the new IME, you can enable the previous version of IME by turning on Use previous version of Microsoft IME .

ISSUE. When sending Office 365 Group emails in Plain Text with Hiragana letters (Japanese Characters), the resulting emails may have missing or garbled characters. The email body may show properly in the list view, but it will show blank or garbled in the Reading Pane. STATUS: WORKAROUND.
