On a computer that is running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8, Windows RT, or Windows Server 2012, you establish a Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol/Internet Protocol security (L2TP/IPsec) virtual private network (VPN) connection through a third-party VPN server.

A VPN connection can help provide a more secure connection and access to your company's network and the internet, for example, when you’re working from a coffee shop or similar public place.

For best results, ensure that VPN is disabled on your device using your device settings. Using a custom DNS Currently, using a custom DNS in your device or your router settings may cause you to connect to the incorrect data center, which may lead to increased latency.

Solution 1: Make sure you have an internet connection. Press the Search button on the taskbar, type settings, and then select Settings. Select Network & internet. Your network status will appear at the top of the settings page. If you don't have an internet connection, you'll have to fix that before continuing with any additional troubleshooting.
