Download OneNote. When finished downloading, double-click the downloaded file to begin Setup. The installer will automatically detect if you’re currently running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 and it will match your OneNote installation to the correct version.

In OneNote for the web, open the notebook you want to share. Click or tap File > Share > Share with People. On the right, in the To box, type one or more email addresses of the people with whom you want to share the current notebook. Select a sharing option: By default, recipients can make edits to the notebooks.

You can also use the OneNote Diagnostics Tool to collect diagnostic information for your installed version of OneNote 2016 for Windows and then send the information securely to Microsoft for troubleshooting. Note: The OneNote Diagnostics Tool is currently only available in English. We’ll update this page when additional languages become available.

No matter what version of OneNote you use, you can download a copy of any of your OneNote notebooks to your PC or Mac — either as a backup or to upload its contents to another account.

Ready to install? Before you begin, make sure your PC or Mac meets the system requirements. If you already redeemed a product key, you're simply reinstalling the apps, or you know you have an assigned license through work or school, you can skip ahead and go to the section sign in to download and install Microsoft 365 or Office.

Install Microsoft 365 2019 or 2016 on a PC. Remember a one-time purchase version of Microsoft 365 is licensed for one install only. Depending on your browser, select Open file (in Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox).

Download and install apps. As you're getting your Microsoft 365 business subscription set up, you'll want to download and install your Microsoft 365 apps, like Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams, and PowerPoint, on your PC or Mac. Go to microsoft365.com and sign in with your Microsoft 365 account. Select Install apps.
