You can use the Powercfg.exe tool to control power settings and to configure computers to use the hibernate feature or the sleep feature. The Powercfg.exe tool is installed with Windows Vista and with Windows 7. To set the active power plan by using the Powercfg.exe tool, follow these steps:

Select Search on the taskbar, type Command prompt, press and hold (or right-click) Command prompt, and then select Run as administrator > Yes. At the command prompt, type powercfg /batteryreport, then press Enter. The battery report will be an HTML file that’s stored in a folder on your PC.

Using the PowerCfg.exe utility, you can configure the display timeout used when the PC is in an unlocked state as well as when it is at a locked screen. From an administrative command prompt, the following commands can be used to control the display timeout: powercfg.exe /setacvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_VIDEO VIDEOIDLE <time in seconds>

To adjust power and sleep settings in Windows 11, select Start > Settings > System > Power & battery > Screen and sleep. Screen: Select how long you want your device to wait before turning the screen off when you're not using your device. Sleep: Select how long you want your device to wait before going to sleep when you're not using it.
