While items are in the site recycle bin, you can restore items you deleted to their original location. If you're using SharePoint in Microsoft 365, you can even view and restore items that were deleted by someone else, as long as you have edit permissions.

If you accidentally delete a file or folder in OneDrive, you may be able to recover it later from the OneDrive recycle bin, and if you're a Microsoft 365 subscriber, you can even restore your entire OneDrive if something goes wrong.

If some Windows functions aren't working or Windows crashes, use the System File Checker to scan Windows and restore your files. Though the steps below might look complicated at first glance, just follow them in order, step-by-step, and we’ll try to get you back on track. Run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe)

Add a shared folder to your OneDrive. Sign in to OneDrive on your browser with your Microsoft personal account. On the left navigation pane, under OneDrive, select Shared. Files and folders that you can add to your OneDrive are marked Can edit.

If lots of your SharePoint or Microsoft Teams files get deleted, overwritten, corrupted, or infected by malware, you can restore an entire shared document library to a previous time. The restore will undo all the actions that occurred on both files and folders in the last 30 days.

When you need a new shared location to store team files, you can create a site that contains a shared library right from OneDrive, add members, and start working together. And it’s easy to copy or move files where you and others need them.

If you're a SharePoint administrator, you can restore a site collection using PowerShell. For info, see Restore-SPDeletedSite. There are two Recycle Bins, the site Recycle Bin (first-stage) and site collection Recycle Bin (second-stage). The default retention period for any item is 30 days.

In OneDrive on the web, the Shared view shows files and folders that you have shared and that others have shared with you. After you share a file, it automatically appears under Shared in the navigation.

For example, you can share a single mailbox across several individuals where all incoming and outgoing mail are from that mailbox. Or you can share one or more folders, or your entire mailbox with others. You can even allow others the ability to manage your calendar or mailbox.
