How do I manage my ad experience on Skype?

Currently, Skype doesn't offer a complete opt-out option for ads. However, you can manage personalized ads from your Skype settings, under the privacy section, to make the ads you see less relevant to your interests.

Skype displays personalized ads to help users discover products and services they're interested in and to enable advertisers to reach their target audience more effectively. Our goal is to ensure that the ads you see are relevant and valuable to you.

Currently, privacy controls for ad personalization in Skype are separate from Microsoft account-level preferences. Turning off ad personalization in Skype does not affect your Microsoft account settings, and vice versa. However, we are working on synchronizing these controls in future updates.

If you are a U.S. resident, we process your personal data in accordance with applicable U.S. state data privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Please see U.S. Data Privacy Laws Notice for details. To learn more about Microsoft privacy practices, go to Microsoft Privacy Statement .

Your ad personalization settings in Skype are tied to your account and should be consistent across different devices and platforms where you are logged in.

Currently, personalization controls are limited to ads experiences specifically within Skype Channels and are not applicable to ads featured in the Today tab or inside article pages on Skype.

Opting out of ad personalization will not affect the performance or functionality of Skype. It only changes the type of ads you see across Skype.

Even if you turn off the setting from your Skype profile privacy page, you might still see personalized ads from other companies and ad networks.
