Surface Duo won't start

If your Surface Duo won’t start, try the following steps to get it working again.

  1. Plug one end of the USB-C cable into a USB-C power adapter, and then plug the adapter into a power outlet on the wall.

  2. Plug the other end into the USB-C port on your Surface Duo and charge your device for 15 minutes.

  3. Press the Power button.

  4. If it doesn’t turn on while it’s still plugged in, press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.

  5. If your Surface Duo still won’t start, charge it for 1 hour, then press the Power button to turn it on.

  6. If that doesn’t work and you have a different USB-C cable and USB power adapter, plug the USB-C cable into your Surface Duo and plug the power adapter into the wall outlet, then charge your device for 1 hour.

  7. Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.

  8. If your Surface Duo still doesn’t start or you don’t have a second USB-C cable and USB power adapter, set up a service order for your Surface Duo.

To submit a service order to Microsoft, go to Device Service and Repair, register, and then select your Surface Duo to start a service order.
