Use the USB-C Earbuds with your Surface Duo for phone calls, music, videos, and games. Just plug them into the USB-C port on your Surface Duo to get started.

Note: USB-C Earbuds are included with Surface Duo in some countries or regions, but not all.

Use for phone calls

Here’s how to use your USB-C Earbuds for phone calls:

Do this

Answer a call

Press the middle button on your earbuds once.

Decline a call

Press and hold the middle button.

Silence the ringer for an incoming call

Press the Volume up (+) or Volume down (-).

End a call

Press the middle button during a call.

Adjust the volume

When you're listening to music, watching videos, on a call, or playing games, use the Volume up (+) or Volume down (-) buttons to adjust the volume.

Increase the volume

Press the Volume up (+) button on your earbuds.

Decrease the volume

Press the Volume down (+) button.

Pause music

Some music apps will let you pause them by pressing the middle button on your USB-C Earbuds.

  • To pause music, press the middle button on your USB-C Earbuds while music is playing.

Note: You can pause music in some music apps, but not all. It depends on the music app and whether it’s supported.

Use your default assist app to go hands free

When you have your USB-C Earbuds plugged into your Surface Duo, you can use your default assist app and your voice to get answers to questions you ask and more.

Here’s how to activate your default assist app:

  • Press and hold the middle button on your earbuds.

Having trouble with your USB-C Earbuds?

If you’re having problems with your earbuds, here are some quick tips to try to get them working:

  • Unplug your USB-C Earbuds from your Surface Duo, then plug them back in.

  • Restart your Surface Duo.

  • Try to use your USB-C Earbuds on another device and see if they work on it.
