Not sure if this is the right fix? We've added this issue to our memory dump diagnostic which can confirm.
Assume that Snapshot Protection mode is enabled on a computer that is running Windows Server 2012. When shadow copying fails, the computer crashes. Additionally, you receive the following Stop error message:
STOP: 0x0000004E (parameter1, parameter2 , parameter3 , parameter4 )
Note Not all "0x0000004E" Stop errors are caused by this problem.
For example, assume that you use Microsoft System Center 2012 Data Protect Manager to perform a backup operation. When the snapshot volume runs out of memory or disk space, you encounter this issue.
This issue occurs because the Volume Shadow Copy driver (Volsnap.sys) does not clean up I/O Request Packets (IRPs) correctly when a "Device not connected" error occurs in the I/O operation.
To resolve this issue, install the Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 update rollup 2855336. For more information about how to obtain this update rollup package, click the following article number to go to the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
