Symptoms

This issue occurs when you have a computer on which BitLocker Drive Encryption is enabled. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

STOP: 0x0000009F (0000000000000003, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)

Notes

  • The Stop error 0x0000009F describes a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE issue.

  • The parameters in this Stop error message vary, depending on the configuration of the computer.

  • Not all "0x0000009F" Stop errors are caused by this issue.

Cause

This issue occurs because of a potential deadlock situation when you shut down a computer on which BitLocker is enabled.

Resolution
