Symptoms
Assume that you use the Process Binary as Character=True and Binary Code Page connection string properties to have the OLE DB Provider for DB2 convert IBM DB2 binary data to character strings.
After you upgrade to Microsoft Host Integration Server 2013, the Process Binary as Character=True DB2 connection string property no longer returns binary data as character string data. Instead, the binary data is returned as binary data. This problem also occurs when you use the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 4.0 and Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 5.0 that are included in Feature Pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and Feature Pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (respectively).Cause
This problem occurs because the Process Binary as Character=True connection string property was removed from the Microsoft DB2 data providers that are included in the products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
Resolution
To resolve this problem in OLE DB Provider for DB2 5.0 and Host Integration Server 2013, install hotfix 2993741. This hotfix does not apply to OLE DB Provider for DB2 4.0.

Cumulative Update 2 for Host Integration Server 2013 (KB2929767).
Note The fix that resolves this problem is also included inStatus
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
More Information
After you apply the update, the DB2 connection string has to be updated to set the “Binary Code Page” property to match the Host CCSID (code page) in order to properly convert the binary data to characters strings.
Note The “Process Binary as Character” connection string property was not re-added to the DB2 data providers to provide this functionality. Instead, this functionality is enabled by using the Binary Code Page property.
