Search/People Picker

In Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot (formerly Office):  Type a person’s name or alias inside the People Picker and select from suggestions that appear.  Note: In Teams, the search box on the app toolbar isn’t limited to Org Explorer. We recommend using the People Picker within Org Explorer in Teams to ensure you are specifically searching within Org Explorer.

In Outlook:  Type a person’s name or alias from the search box on the toolbar.

Suggestions are based on your most recent or frequent interactions with people, as well as those you work with the most. Recent or historical searches are not considered.

For admins

The Org Explorer app is available to all tenants that have an Enterprise or EDU license. There's no specific set-up process for Org Explorer. Admins don't have to do any installation to make it available to people in their organization.

The org information you see about others in Org Explorer is from Microsoft Entra ID.

Learn more about working with users in Microsoft Graph.

If your org doesn't include manager relationship data in the Microsoft Entra ID,  users won't be able to see the org chart in Org Explorer. You can fill in the data from your HR system via the Microsoft Identity Manager provisioning system (MIM).

To learn more about MIM, see Microsoft Identity Manager 2016 news and updates.

The data in the "Works With" section is based on public relationships, like in-common meetings, email, and other collaboration patterns. The insights are returned by the people API.

To turn off the Works with section, see Customizing people insights privacy in Microsoft Graph.

Admins can remove Org Explorer app for their entire organization by going to Microsoft Admin Center > Settings > Integrated aps > Available apps. On the Available apps tab, search for Org Explorer and select it. In the Org Explorer pane, under Actions, select to Block app.
