Symptoms
When an application remotely access another computer by using the Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) 2010 APIs, the application may crash. Additionally, you may receive an error that resembles the following in the Application log:

If you debug this issue, the debug information indicates that the Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Client.Workspace.GetLocalItemForServerItem method is the last method called. Additionally, the debug information indicates that this method does not return a value.

This issue usually occurs after you rename the computer that runs the application.
Cause
This issue occurs because of an unhandled StackOverflowException exception in the Mscorlib.dll module.Â
Resolution
You must apply the following hotfix on the application tier of TFS 2010.

Restart requirement
You have to restart the computer if the affected files are being used when you apply this hotfix. We recommend that you close all components that are related to TFS 2010 before you install this hotfix.
