Symptoms

Multiple applications in a dependency chain may not install after the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager client begins computer restart. This only affects software that is deployed by using Application Management.

Cause

This problem occurs because changes to the CIEnforceState value for an application are not saved on the client when the Configuration Manager client agent begins a system restart. This scenario affects applications and application dependency chains in which the application has the following option enabled:

  • Only when no user is logged on / CM client will force a mandatory device restart

The fix for this issue is included in Cumulative Update 3 for System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager.

To apply this hotfix, you must have Cumulative Update 5 for System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1 installed.
