This article describes update 5002050 for Microsoft Office 2016 that was released on April 2, 2024.
Be aware that the update in the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2016. It doesn't apply to the Office 2016 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (See What version of Office am I using?)
Improvements and fixes
This update fixes an issue in which Microsoft OneNote cannot safely unload LibletAPI across multiple DLLs that it owns. After you install this update, LibletAPI can be safely uninitialized in various OneNote DLLs by uninitializing in a locked, reference-counted code block.
Note: To fix this issue completely, you have to install KB 5002545 and KB 5002583 together with this update.
