When you create a new email, you are not able to view or pick an email account in the From drop down.  This issue will occur if the Outlook profile contains either a POP or IMAP account.

This issue occurs for users on Insider Channels:

  • Beta Channel Version 2004 Build 12703.20010

  • Current Channel (Preview) Version 2003 Build 12624.20176


To update to the fixed version, select File, Office Account, Update Options, Update Now.

The issue is fixed for Beta Channel Version 2004 Build 12711.20000

The issue is fixed for Current Channel (Preview) Version 2003 Build 12624.20224


The Outlook Team has released fixed versions.  Until you can update use the following workarounds:

  • Use Outlook Web Access or web mail for your email provider to send emails.

  • If you need to send email from an Exchange account or a distribution alias, create a new Outlook Profile and put the Exchange account in that profile. Create an Outlook profile

  • Switch to a non-Insider channel such as Current Channel. Change the update channel
