Canvas integrates with Microsoft Teams Assignments to provide any class an unmatched degree of organization. Teachers can create, assign, and oversee Team assignments directly from within Canvas, and grades are instantly entered into the grade book. Educators save time and learners experience less burden thanks to this powerful application.
Class teams have unique permissions and features for teachers and students. As owners of the team, teachers assign work, share class content, start meetings, and control who can post in the team. Each class team is also linked to its own OneNote Class Notebook.
How to connect a class team to Canvas
Your Education Institution's IT Admin must enable integration with Microsoft Teams. If integration has been enabled, proceed with the following steps:
1. Log in to your Canvas account.
2. Choose Microsoft Teams Assignments.
3.Sign into your Microsoft 365 account and connect your class team to Canvas.
If you have not already connected any Class Teams, the connect teams wizard will appear. Select Next to connect a Class Team.
4. A window will load listing your suggested classes. Choose the classes you'd like to use by selecting the checkboxes.
Select the Microsoft class teams that you want to link to Schoology.
Select Next. When your team tile appears, click to open it.
Your students will be automatically added to your team, but it won't be visible to them yet. This gives you time to get organized, add content, and prepare before they are admitted. Select the Activate banner at the top of Teams to welcome them to the class whenever you're ready.
5. Go to Assignments in Canvas.
6. Choose Add a new Teams Assignment
Important: If you disconnect a team, assignments from that team can no longer be linked to Canvas. Class teams that are disconnected from Canvas courses aren't deleted in Microsoft Teams.
