Issue that is fixed in this update
It may take longer than expected for API calls to access the cache of AppFabric 1.1 for Windows Server. This issue typically occurs on servers that have a large amount of memory.
This issue occurs because it takes longer than expected for the garbage collection calls to be processed in the Microsoft .NET Framework. Therefore, the API calls experience high latency.
After you apply this cumulative update, AppFabric uses a nonblocking garbage collection (background server garbage collection). Nonblocking garbage collection is a new feature in the .NET Framework 4.5.
To apply this fix, follow these steps:
Upgrade the servers to the .NET Framework 4.5.
Install the cumulative update package.
Enable the fix by using the following setting in the DistributedCacheService.exe.config file:
<appSettings><add key="backgroundGC" value="true"/></appSettings>
Restart the AppFabric Caching service for the update to take effect.
Note By default, the DistributedCacheService.exe.config file is located under the following directory:
%ProgramFiles%\AppFabric 1.1 for Windows Server
