Note: This article has done its job, and will be retiring soon. To prevent "Page not found" woes, we're removing links we know about. If you've created links to this page, please remove them, and together we'll keep the web connected.

When creating Microsoft OneNote assignments and assigning them to your students, you may find that duplicates have been created. This can cause confusion because only one of the pages will be linked, so if a student does their work in the one that isn't linked their assignment might not get graded.

This duplication of OneNote pages can happen as a bug that Microsoft is working to address soon, but for now there are steps you can take to remove the duplicate assignment page to avoid confusion between teachers and students.

Procedure for removing duplicate OneNote assignment page

  1. The teacher should update the title of the assignment page they want to keep. For example, changing the title from "Welcome to Class Notebook" to "Welcome to Class Notebook A".

  2. The student or students that are seeing the duplicate assignment page should delete the page that hasn't had its title updated.

After it is deleted, make sure the Class Notebook has saved.

  3. At this point the teacher should only see the page they wished to keep, the duplicate page should be gone.
