SUMMARY

This article describes how and when the system uses the Manufacturing Fixed Lead Time for an Item/Site in the Item Resource Planning window instead of the Primary Routing for Manufacturing Order scheduling.

MORE INFORMATION

During Manufacturing Order Entry, the system will always use the Primary Routing defined for an item to calculate MO Start and MO End dates. The Manufacturing Fixed Lead Time value, if defined for an Item/Site using the Item Resource Planning window (Cards - Inventory - Item Resource Planning), will be used by the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) module in the Manufacturing Series.

MRP creates suggested orders thatuse the Manufacturing Fixed Lead Time value to calculate the date when this order must be released. Youcan trace the Required Date when this item needs to be on hand to meet this requirement. You can also trace the Release Date (Requirement Date minus MFG Fixed Lead Time) on planned Manufacturing Orders that MRP has the ability to create (MMOs).

When you drill down on these planned MOs in MRP Pegging, you can see the Release Date is offset by the Manufacturing Fixed Lead Time value.
