Cumulative update packages for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 contain hotfixes for the issues that were fixed since the release of SharePoint Server 2010.

Note This is build 14.0.6131.5003 of the cumulative update package.

We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment. Because the builds are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and security updates that were included in the previous SharePoint Server 2010 update package releases.

Important notes about the cumulative update package

  • Microsoft Office 2010 hotfixes are now multilingual. This cumulative update package contains updates for all languages.

  • This cumulative update package includes all the server component packages. Additionally, this cumulative update package updates only those components that are installed on the system.

Known issues

Known issue 1

After you install this hotfix, restart the User Profile Synchronization service so that profile synchronization functions correctly.

To work around this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Central Administration page.

  2. In the System Settings section, click Manage Services.

  3. In the list of services that is displayed, find the User Profile Synchronization service, and then click Stop if the status of the service is Started. As soon as the status is Stopped, click Start, and provide the credentials to start the User Profile Synchronization service.

For more information about how to start the service, view the "Start the User Profile Synchronization service" section on the following Microsoft website:

Known issue 2

After you install the cumulative update package, run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard (PSConfigUI.exe). This wizard upgrades and updates the farm to the latest version. This step is required in order to guarantee that you have full SharePoint functionality. The farm will still function if you do not run PSConfigUI.exe, but the farm will have reduced functionality. For example, the search function will not index content.
