Symptoms

When you select a cost category ID in the Cost Category ID list for a timesheet in Personal Data Keeper (PDK) in Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 or in Microsoft Business Solutions-Great Plains 8.0, you receive the following error message:

The default Unit of Measure is not part of the schedule.


This error message is incorrect. In this scenario, you expect to receive the following error message:

This pay code is not valid for this employee ID.

Cause

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:

  • The Default Pay Code field is left blank in the PA Employee Options window.

  • The cost category for which you are entering the time has a default pay code selected.

Workaround

To work around this problem, follow these steps:

  1. On the Cards menu, point to Payroll, and then click Employee.

  2. Select the employee for which you are entering the timesheet.

  3. Click Project.

  4. In the PA Employee Options window, enter a pay code in the Default Pay Code field.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Save the employee record.
