In certain scenarios, Microsoft Excel 2010 enters a constant validation loop when you try to calculate the printing area for a worksheet. This occurs when the worksheet contains OfficeArt content and the Freeze Panes feature is enabled.
To resolve this issue, apply the following update:

Fix it for me
To fix this problem automatically, click the Fix it button or link. Then click Run in the File Download dialog box, and follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.
Please apply update 2596494 before running the Fix it solution.
This wizard may be in English only. However, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.
If you are not on the computer that has the problem, save the Fix it solution to a flash drive or a CD and then run it on the computer that has the problem.

Please follow these steps to enable the hotfix:
Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) value.
Type SetPrintAreaGraphicsPerf, and then press ENTER.
In the Details pane, right-click SetPrintAreaGraphicsPerf, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
Exit Registry Editor.
