Assume that you have a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 public folder in an Exchange Server 2013 environment. You move an email message to the public folder in Outlook Web App. In this situation, public folder replication on the Exchange Server 2010 server fails.

If content conversion tracing is enabled when this issue occurs, the following information is recorded in a content conversion tracing file:

Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.ConversionFailedException: The message content has become corrupted. ---> Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.ConversionFailedException: Content conversion: Failed due to corrupt TNEF (violation status: 0x00008000)

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:

2961810 Cumulative Update 6 for Exchange Server 2013

This issue occurs because Exchange Server 2013 sets an incorrect property on the moved email message.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
