Symptoms

When you submit a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) 837 interchange in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2009 or Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010, an X12 997 functional acknowledgement that contains invalid AK3 segments is generated. Additionally, an event that resembles the following is logged in the Application log:

Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: BizTalk Server 2009 EDI Event Category: None Event ID: 8116Description: Error: 1 (Field level error) SegmentID: AK3 Position in TS: 7 Data Element ID: AK301 Position in Segment: 1 Data Value: Data value5: Data element too long
