Symptoms

When you install a third-party firewall on a client computer, and if that firewall disables Windows Firewall, Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) 2010 still detects Windows Firewall as running.

Cause

This problem can occur if Windows Firewall is running when the third-party firewall is installed.

Resolution

This problem is fixed in Rollup 1 for Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010 Service Pack 4 (SP4).

Workaround

To work around this problem, make sure that Windows Firewall is turned off before you install a third-party firewall.
