FIX: You cannot redirect local computer resources in an RDS session after you disable the client endpoint components in Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010

Symptoms

After you disable the client endpoint components in Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) 2010, you cannot redirect resources to access your local computer resources in the Remote Desktop Services (RDS) session.

Cause

When the client components are disabled, the UAG Policy engine blocks all resource-redirection features.

Resolution

This problem is fixed in the update that is described in Description of Rollup 1 for Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010 Service Pack 3.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

More Information

To enable resource redirection when the client endpoint components are disabled, follow these steps:

  1. Apply the update that is mentioned in the "Resolution" section.

  2. Create the following registry value:

    Registry subkey location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WhaleCom\e-Gap\von\UrlFilter
    DWORD name: RDSResourceMappingWithoutUAGComponents
