FangSong (仿宋 in Chinese) is a typeface designed for typesetting the Chinese language using the Simplified Chinese script. It is a “serif” style (Ming or Song) with very light strokes, subtle contrast between thick and thin strokes, and a slight angle to the horizontal strokes. It was designed to be legible onscreen.
FangSong was designed by Beijing ZhongYi Electronics Co. It has only one weight, with no italic style. In addition to Simplified Chinese characters, the font includes Japanese kanji, hiragana, and katakana, along with a variety of symbols, as well as capitals and lowercase letters for the Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic alphabets.
