INTRODUCTION

In Microsoft Business Solutions - Great Plains Extender, you can use an Extender view to generate a consolidated view of Microsoft Great Plains tables and of Extender windows. You can use views only when you are logged on as the system administrator. This article describes how to create an Extender window for additional customer information and how to create an Extender view.

Note When you create Extender views to use in Crystal Reports, the column name for the Extender window must not contain any spaces.

Create an Extender window

1.

On the Tools menu, click Extender , and then click Extender .

2.

Click Windows , and then click New .

3.

In the Window ID box, type CUSTOMERINFO .

4.

In the Description box, type Customer Information Extra .

5.

In the Product list, click Great Plains .

6.

In the Series list, click Sales .

7.

In the Form list, click Customer Maintenance .

8.

In the Window list, click Customer Maintenance .

9.

Expand Key Fields .

10.

Click the down arrow next to View , and then click Customer Maintenance .

11.

Click Customer Number .

12.

Click Select .

13.

In the Field 1 box, type Customer_Since .

14.

In the Field Type list, click Date .

15.

Click Save .

16.

Click Cards , click Sales , and then click Customer .

17.

Create a customer or select an existing customer.

18.

Click Extras , click Additional , and then click Customer Information Extra .

19.

Type the appropriate date for the customer.

20.

Click Save to save the additional customer information.

21.

Click Save to save the customer.

Create an Extender view

1.

On the Tools menu, click Extender , and then click Extender .

2.

Click Views , and then click New .

3.

In the View ID box, type CUSTOMER INFO .

4.

In the Description box, type Customer Additional Information .

5.

In the SQL Name box, type CUSTOMER_INFO .

6.

Click Add to add the table.

7.

In the Type list, click Great Plains Table .

8.

In the Product list, click Great Plains .

9.

In the Series list, click Sales .

10.

In the Table list, click RM Customer MSTR .

11.

Click Add .

12.

Under Tables , click RM Customer MSTR , and then click Add .

13.

In the Link To Type list, click Extender Window .

14.

In the Window ID list, click Customer Information Extra .

15.

Expand Link Fields .

16.

In the From list, click Customer Number .

17.

In the To list, click Customer Number .

18.

Click Add .

19.

In the Add Table window, click Add .

20.

Under Tables , click RM Customer MSTR . Click to select the Customer Number check box and the Customer Name check box.

21.

Under Tables , Select Customer Information Extra . Click to select the Customer_Since check box.

22.

Click Preview to see what the Extender view looks like.

23.

Click OK .

24.

Click Save .

The view will be created in an instance of Microsoft SQL Server, and the view will have the SQL name.
