How to use freehand crop in Clipchamp

Note: The screenshots in this article are from Clipchamp for personal accounts. The same principles apply to Clipchamp for work.

Edit the size, focal point and aspect ratio of your assets in seconds using the freehand crop tool in Clipchamp.

“Freehand” refers to using your cursor to freely change the asset in the preview instead of relying on any presets. Crop videos, images, stickers, GIFs, and even change the aspect ratio of an asset with freehand crop.

Step 1. Select the asset you want to crop

In the timeline, click on the asset you want to crop. The floating toolbar will appear above the video on the stage.

Step 2. Select the crop button then drag the handles

Click on the crop button in the floating toolbar to freehand cropp your video.

Cropping handles will appear in the corners and edges of your preview video. Use your cursor to click and drag the handles in and out to change the size and aspect ratio of your asset.

Once you're happy with your new crop, click on the tick or done button to apply your freehand crop. The changes apply to the selected asset in the timeline only.
