Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based computer, or a Windows 7 SP1-based computer that has the Remote Server Administration Tools installed and running in a domain environment.

  • You configure the following settings on the domain controller:

    • You create a "repro_parent" folder and a "repro_child" folder in a hierarchical structure. The "repro_parent" folder is the parent folder.

    • In the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in, you create two groups that are named as "GroupA" and "GroupB," and you set the displayname attribute of GroupA as "Repro name."

    • You add GroupA to repro_child's permission list, and add GroupB to repro_parent's permission list.

    • In the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in, you configure the security attribute of GroupB so that authenticated users are denied access.

  • You open the Advanced Security Settings dialog box for repro_child from the computer.

In this scenario, the entry name of GroupB is not displayed in Permission entries. More specifically, "GroupA" and "Repro name" are both listed. However, "GroupB" should be displayed instead of "Repro name."
