Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.
Symptoms
You deploy a PowerPivot application to a SharePoint farm on a computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services. After you uninstall the last instance of the PowerPivot service application, the PowerPivot application database is removed. However, the records for the PowerPivot service application database are not removed from the Objects table in the SharePoint configuration database.
This issue prevents you from recreating the PowerPivot Service application by using the same application database name. Also, this issue may trigger a Microsoft SharePoint health message that resembles the following:
Alert description: A critical incident has occurred where a database was not found on server <Server Name>.
Event ID: 3760
Event Description: SQL Database '<Database name of PowerPivot Service application>' on SQL Server instance '<Instance name>' not found. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.
Cannot open database "<Database name of PowerPivot Service application>" requested by the login. The login failed.
Login failed for user '<User Name>'.
Resolution
SQL Server 2008 R2
